Founded in 2001 in Healdsburg, CA by childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts, Arnot-Roberts specializes in small-lot, single-vineyard wines. Their focus includes cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, and other uncommon varieties for Northern California. Nathan, a second-generation cooper, makes all the French oak barrels they use for aging their wines.

The Que Syrah Vineyard, located on the Sonoma Coast, is a true gem. Planted in 1994 by Al and Virginia Rago, it sits above the town of Occidental, three miles from the Pacific Ocean at an elevation of 850 feet. This vineyard is the oldest Syrah planting on the Sonoma Coast. Credit goes to the Ragos and Ehren Jordan for their pioneering efforts in cool-climate Syrah farming in California. With no prior reference for Syrah in such a cold area, they aptly named the vineyard after the Spanish phrase “que será, será,” meaning "whatever will be, will be." The wines produced here are electrifying, with a spicy, aromatic profile and a brilliant fuchsia hue, bursting with vibrant briary fruit.

“The 2022 Syrah Que Syrah Vineyard is fabulous and also a fine follow-up to the 2021, especially considering the challenges of the year. Inky dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, and licorice fill out the layers. The 2022 is perhaps not quite as deep or explosive as the 2021, but it is pretty close. The Que Syrah remains one of the most distinctive Syrahs in California.“
-Vinous, 97 Points

“22-year-old vines planted at 900’ 4.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean west of the town of Occidental. This is the oldest planting of Syrah on the Sonoma coast. Beginning in 2013 we were lucky to become the new stewards of this site and have control over the farming. The wine was vinified, like our other Syrahs, retaining 100% whole clusters and aged in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months. 8 barrels produced.”
