- Sonoma and Sonoma Coast
Over 25 years ago, Flowers Vineyards and Winery embarked on a mission to cultivate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the rugged coastal ridges of the extreme Sonoma Coast. Founders Joan and Walt Flowers had a simple goal: to craft exceptional wine that embodies the wild beauty of the land and the spirit of the Sonoma Coast. This vision continues to guide everything they do—from responsible farming and hand harvesting to utilizing 100% native fermentation and employing minimal intervention in the winemaking process. Their steadfast dedication to creating distinctive wines that reflect the essence of the Sonoma Coast has been the cornerstone of their success, and it will continue to inspire them for years to come.
The estate vineyards, Camp Meeting Ridge and Sea View Ridge, are perched atop the soaring coastal ridges bordering the Pacific Ocean, with elevations ranging from 1,150 to 1,875 feet. Situated in the Fort Ross-Seaview American Viticulture Area (AVA), which was established in 2012, Flowers resides on the extreme western edge of the Sonoma Coast Appellation. Characterized by its elevation, rugged terrain, and proximity to the Pacific Ocean, vineyard plantings in this AVA are restricted to altitudes between 920 and 1,800+ feet, encompassing only 2% of the total AVA acreage.
"A fresh yet structured pinot with dried strawberry, orange peel and light caramel with dried stems. Medium body, flavorful, firm and bright at the end. Savory."
-James Suckling, 93 Points
"Delicious, fresh, and savoury, this juicy Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast has violet and smoky flint aromatics buoyed by fresh red berries and a kiss of fresh mint. The palate is reflective, with flinty minerality coming to the fore. Pine sap, notes of fresh evergreen and lovely red fruits, clove and white peppery spice to finish."
-Decanter
"This fine-spun Pinot Noir opens with fresh aromas of coastal evergreens and wildflowers. Hints of early-season cherries follow, macerated in warm spices (anise, cardamom, allspice) and layered over earthy sandalwood. Ripe yet tangy dark berries, wearing a little dust from the patch, star on a lightly textured palate, giving way to savory herbs, delicately tannic red tea, and a pop of salty sea beans. A fascinating play of light fruit and dark spice is finished with a bright squeeze of orange peel."
