Chateau Fombrauge, one of the oldest estates in Saint-Émilion, boasts origins dating back to the 16th century and its first harvest in 1599. The magnificent property features a charterhouse from the 17th century. Under the stewardship of the Dumas de Fombrauge family, Chateau Fombrauge has become a benchmark for Bordeaux viticulture. Today, as part of the Bernard Magrez collection, it stands as one of the most beautiful estates in Saint-Émilion.

The wines of Chateau Fombrauge are crafted through meticulous plot selection based on terroir and grape variety, taking into account the age of the vines. The estate utilizes drones to map varying levels of fruit ripeness. After manual harvesting, the grapes are collected in small crates and brought to the winery, where a team of 20 experienced individuals sorts them on a table. The grapes are then vinified in small-capacity wooden, stainless steel, and concrete tanks using gravity flow, with pre-fermentation maceration and full manual punch-downs. The wine is aged for 16 months in barrels, 40% of which are new, while 60% have been used for one previous wine.

"Cassis, black raspberries, graphite, spicy oak, and floral notes all emerge from the 2020 Château Fombrauge, a wonderfully textured, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, yet elegant Saint-Emilion. A wine that builds beautifully with time in the glass, it complex, has ripe, silky tannins, and a great finish. Tasted on more than one occasion, it never failed to impress. Drink this richly textured, sexy, beautiful 2020 over the coming 15+ years."
-Jeb Dunnuck, 94 Points

"Frankly ripe and forward, with a broad swath of dark plum, blackberry and boysenberry compote flavors that course through, supported by light licorice root and alder threads. Reveals a warm earth note that drapes over the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2035."
