2023 Brunely Vacqueyras "Raphaël"

Domaine Brunely is a family-owned estate in France’s southern Rhône Valley, with 70 hectares of vineyards. Combining generations of winemaking experience with modern techniques and a commitment to sustainability, the estate produces expressive wines that reflect the region’s distinctive terroir. Vacqueyras is particularly appealing for its rich, structured reds, offering the depth and complexity of the southern Rhône at excellent value compared with better-known neighboring appellations like Gigondas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

"The 2023 Vacqueyras Cuvée Raphaël is a rich, concentrated, impressive effort offering pure black cherry and darker raspberry fruit as well as some peppery, graphite, and mineral nuances. I love its purity, and this medium to full-bodied, concentrated barrel sample should have a solid 10-12 years of prime drinking. A blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and the rest equal doses of Carignan and Cinsault, it was aged 12 to 18 months in concrete tanks."
