2024 Domaine Borgeot "Clos de la Carbonade" Bourgogne Blanc

Domaine Borgeot is a family-owned estate in Remigny, just south of Chassagne-Montrachet, where brothers Laurent and Pascal Borgeot continue a multigenerational tradition of producing precise, terroir-driven Burgundy. While the domaine is well known for its Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Crus, the same careful vineyard work and restrained approach extend throughout the range. Clos de la Carbonade is one of its signature Bourgogne Blancs, sourced from a monopole vineyard in the Côte Chalonnaise just south of Bouzeron. Planted to Chardonnay vines averaging more than 60 years old, the vineyard’s stony, limestone-rich soils naturally limit yields and contribute distinctive mineral character.

The fruit is harvested by hand and carefully sorted before fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and French oak, with limited new oak to preserve the vineyard’s character. The wine is aged on its lees, adding texture and complexity while maintaining vibrant acidity and precision. Produced entirely from this single enclosed vineyard, Clos de la Carbonade offers a distinct sense of place and consistency rarely found at the Bourgogne level. Sustainably farmed and made from 100% Chardonnay, it balances freshness, minerality, and texture while allowing the old vines and limestone terroir to take center stage.

"The color is a bright yellow-gold. On the nose, warm baked apple, fresh cream, lightly toasted hazelnuts, and meyer lemon. The palate is fresh, but oh so suave, with a generous texture and fine breadth. Framed with mild acidity, the wine gives ample golden delicious apple, baked pear and quince. Finishes long and with solid follow-through. This is knocking at the door of village-level Meursault at half the price."
