Staglin Family Vineyard is a high-end boutique winery in Rutherford, Napa Valley, founded in 1985. They farm their estate organically on bench‐land soils, producing mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, along with Chardonnay and Sangiovese. Their flagship wines are rich and elegant, showing intense fruit, fine tannins, and a texture that rewards aging. They use sustainable practices including solar power and underground caves for winemaking. Beyond wine, they are well known for their philanthropy; proceeds from some of their wines support mental health and brain disease research.

The 2021 vintage brought low yields but outstanding fruit quality. Limited rainfall shaped the season, balanced by steady, moderate temperatures. This combination produced small berries and clusters with remarkable concentration and depth of flavor. Favorable conditions at the end of the season allowed harvest decisions to focus on fruit maturity rather than weather pressures. Grapes were picked in the cool early mornings to capture their natural freshness, bright acidity, and delicate character.

"The finest example of this estate I’ve ever tasted, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a flat-out sensational effort that hits perfection. Exhibiting a deep purple hue as well as a smorgasbord-like array of cassis, scorched earth, chocolate, and spicy wood, it has a Pauillac-like cedar pencil character, full-bodied richness, and voluptuous, a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and sweet tannins. While there’s considerable structure, it’s concealed by the wine’s extravagant fruit, richness, and opulence. This prodigious, sensationally pure, heavenly Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years and will have another three decades of overall longevity."
-Jeb Dunnuck, 100 Points

"Brooding aromas flow from the glass evoking dark purple fruit, mocha, mint, and supple leather. Refined but powerful tannins provide the backbone while black currant, sun -warmed fig, licorice and savory herbs entertain the senses. As the wine gracefully tapers to a close, dark chocolate, cedar, and crushed lavender linger. With the natural structure and intense concentration of the vintage, this 2021 benefited from an additional six months in barrel before it was bottled."
