NC- 2018 Villa Creek Cellars Hight Road "James Berry Vineyard" Grenache Blend

Villa Creek wines are made with grapes grown on their home estate, MAHA, and with grapes from vineyards that meet their growing criteria of being certified organic and/or biodynamic or practicing organic farming methods. Currently the Villa Creek vineyard sources are MAHA, James Berry, and Kirk-Landry.

In order to truly capture the vintage, Villa Creek lets the grapes do the work as they facilitate optimal fermentation conditions. All clusters and grapes are hand picked and double sorted by hand on vibrating sorting tables. About 20% of the grapes are fermented on stems. The winery is a Demeter biodynamic and CCOF organic certified facility. As biodynamic standards allow for minimal sulfur use and organic yeasts, these are used only when required, not as common practice. Villa Creek’s preference is always to allow the unique native yeasts the opportunity to flourish.

This is a stunning family owned and farmed vineyard in west Paso Robles’ esteemed Willow Creek District. This wine has texture, finesse, and approachability along with weight, complexity and the ability to cellar. Deep garnet in color, it offers amazing aromatics of black and red fruits, cured meats, west Paso lupine and spice. Its palate is sexy, rich and textural with just enough verve to have you salivating for more. While enjoyable now it will deliver in spades with a few years of patience in your cellar.
