Châteauneuf and Friends: Southern Rhône Valley Masterclass
with Todd Edmondson, Alain Junguenet Selection
Wednesday, April 30th at Foxcroft Dilworth | 6:30pm
Price includes ticket, tax, and gratuity
Spanning from Montélimar to Avignon, the Southern Rhône region is characterized by rolling vineyards, ancient villages, and iconic Rhône River landscapes. Its flagship appellation, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, produces bold red blends dominated by Grenache, and often accompanied by Syrah and Mourvèdre. The region's famed galets roulés (large, rounded stones) retain heat, fostering ripeness and complexity in the wines. Beyond Châteauneuf-du-Pape, appellations like Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Lirac offer exceptional wines at varying price points.
We are thrilled to welcome our guest speaker, Todd Edmondson, Certified Specialist of Wine and Southeast Sales Manager at Alain Junguenet Selection. Todd brings 27 years of expertise in fine wines, specializing in imported selections and portfolio management. He’s taught wine classes at local universities and wine shops, and traveled extensively through top wine regions in the Europe, South America, and the US. In this session, you’ll explore six carefully selected wines from the region, accompanied by light shared appetizers.
"Wines from the Southern Rhône Valley hold a special place in my heart, and not just because they're deliciously consistent and still affordable, as far as premium French wine regions go. In my time as a sommelier in New York City, I had the extraordinarily good luck to work at the legendary TriBeCa Grill, whose Wine Spectator Grand Award list boasted the largest selection of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines in the United States. On the back labels of so many of the best of these wines was often the name of the importer, declaring it an "Alain Junguenet Selection." Bottom line: any wine imported under the Junguenet name is a classic example of the region and tradition, from a small family producer of impeccable quality." - Shawn Paul, Wine Operations Director for Foxcroft Wine Co.
