- Morgon
Marcel Lapierre took over his family's Domaine in 1973, in the Morgon region of Beujolais, France. His influence endured until the 2010 vintage, his last, as he passed away at the end of the harvest—a fitting conclusion for a man who transformed the world's view of Beaujolais. His children, Mathieu and Camille, have continued their father's groundbreaking work, introducing biodynamic practices to the vineyard and ensuring that Marcel's legacy thrives.
The approach at Lapierre is both revolutionary and rooted in tradition. The meticulous care they bring to their work sets them apart from the mass-produced Beaujolais found elsewhere. Their eleven hectares are predominantly composed of decomposed granite, with vines averaging 45 years old. Grapes are harvested at peak ripeness, a hallmark of the estate's style. The wines are then aged on fine lees for a minimum of nine months in oak foudres and fûts, ranging from three to thirteen years old. These wines embody the essence of Morgon: vibrant, full of life, and deeply reflective of the joie de vivre that Marcel instilled in his craft.
Included In 2-Pack:
Le Beaujolais
"The 2023 Le Beaujolais, which debuted after the devastating 2021 vintage forced Lapierre to introduce a new wine to his lineup, comes from 1.5 hectares dedicated to this new cuvée. It has a lovely, heartwarming bouquet with red cherries and just a faint hint of autumn leaf. The palate is well balanced with crunchy red fruit and a pinch of white pepper, vibrant on the finish. Delicious."

Morgon
"This bottle of 2023 Morgon comes from the first bottling run completed in March 2024 (there will be five bottlings until September). Lapierre told me that this is destined for markets in Japan, Canada and a little for the US. The nose reveals dark berry fruit, sous-bois and light Indian ink aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and crisp acidity, a little rustic in a good way with a slightly savory finish. Lovely."
