Bill Wathen and Dick Dore embarked on their winemaking journey in 1985, co-founding Foxen Winery & Vineyard on the historic Rancho Tinaquaic in northern Santa Barbara County. Throughout the years, their unwavering commitment has centered on crafting exceptionally limited-production, sustainably-farmed wines that accentuate the unique character of each vineyard, all achieved through a "minimalist" winemaking philosophy.
Nestled on the historic Rancho Tinaquaic, Foxen is a testament to the region's rich history, boasting a solar-powered winery, a charming tasting room, and the iconic 7200 "shack." The legacy of Captain Foxen lives on through the distinctive wines and enduring commitment to sustainable, vineyard-centric winemaking embraced by Bill Wathen and Dick Dore.
"The 2019 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard Block 8 is a juicy, exuberant Pinot. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather and rose petals are all kicked up. This is a decidedly lush, voluptuous Pinot that will drink well with minimal cellaring. There is a lot to look forward to. This rich, heady Pinot is not exactly subtle, but is sure is delicious."
