SC- Half Bottle: Bernard Gaucher Champagne Brut

Nestled in the hilly heart of the Cote des Bar, near Aronville in Aube, the vineyards of Bernard Gaucher thrive in the southern part of the Champagne wine region, close to the city of Epernay. With a history spanning several generations, Gaucher embodies a true estate grower champagne, cultivating both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.

This particular wine stands as the quintessential representation of the house, celebrated for its fresh and fruity character. Comprising 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, the cuvée is crafted from the 2010 and 2011 harvests. After aging for two years on its lees, the wine matures in oak casks with weekly batonnage (lees stirring) and undergoes partial malolactic conversion. Following disgorgement, it rests an additional 6 months before being released, boasting a dosage of 10 grams per liter.

Elegance abounds with a palate of richness and structure. This exquisite offering presents a harmonious blend of fresh and baked apples, poached pears, baked bread, a subtle hint of lemon curd, all complemented by very fine bubbles.
