Today Langmeil is owned and run by the Lindner family, with Paul as chief winemaker and James leading sales and marketing. The winery takes a hands-off approach in the cellar, hand-picking fruit and relying on open fermenters and basket presses, with minimal fining or filtration. Its flagship wine, The Freedom 1843 Shiraz, comes from that single rescued vineyard and first released in 1997. Beyond Shiraz, Langmeil also farms old vine Grenache and Cabernet from its Lyndoch and Eden Valley sites, rounding out a portfolio built on preserving some of the rarest vines in the world.
