Family-owned for five generations, Domaine Benoît Cantin spans 13.5 hectares in the heart of the Irancy vineyard. Benoît took over in 1994 and hopes to pass the domaine in the coming years to his son Félicien or his daughter Émeline. While he chooses not to pursue organic certification in order to maintain flexibility, his approach is rooted in respect for the terroir and nature. Benoît participates in the Biodivine program to protect biodiversity in the vineyard, uses rainwater for irrigation, and even crafts some of his oak barrels from his own trees.
"The color is a generous ruby-red, translucent at the center. On the nose, autumnal cranberry and ripe strawberry and warm earth, unmistakably Pinot.
"On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a generous and refreshing lift of acidity. The generosity of fruit pitches a shade darker, with black raspberry and herbal notes. Good length to the finish, with persistent red fruit. Lovely.
