Pascal and Laurent Borgeot, fourth-generation winemakers, founded Domaine Borgeot in 1985 with a few inherited parcels of Santenay vines from their father. Since then, they've steadily built a reputation as one of the most respected producers in the Côte de Beaune. Their village, Remigny, sits just across the fields from Santenay but falls outside the Côte d'Or boundary, an administrative quirk that’s a source of some frustration.
Strategic vineyard acquisitions have expanded their reach, allowing them to export a diverse range of wines. Locally, their skill and dedication are so well regarded that more prominent Domaines often send their children to apprentice with them. Their daughter Julia Borgeot has recently joined the Domaine, adding fresh talent to the family operation and pointing to a promising future.
"The color is a bright yellow-gold. On the nose, warm baked apple, fresh cream, lightly toasted hazelnuts, and meyer lemon. The palate is fresh, but oh so suave, with a generous texture and fine breadth. Framed with mild acidity, the wine gives ample golden delicious apple, baked pear and quince. Finishes long and with solid follow-through. This is knocking at the door of village-level Meursault at half the price."
