NC- 2019 Chateau du Glana Saint Julien Rouge

Constructed in 1870, Château du Glana found its place in history when renowned nurseryman Gabriel Meffre acquired it in early 1961. Initially formed from parcels of St. Pierre, Gabriel Meffre diligently expanded the vineyard's footprint, ultimately reaching over 40 hectares. Today, his son Jean-Paul, alongside grandchildren Ludovic and Julien, spearhead the estate, channeling their efforts into enhancing wine quality through substantial investments. Professor Denis Dubourdieu lends his expertise to vinification at the château.

The estate's terroir spans 43 hectares, featuring sandy-gravel soils renowned for their excellent drainage. Vineyard management practices include disbudding, leaf removal, and manual thinning to ensure optimal grape development. Embracing sustainable viticulture, the estate employs manual harvesting. The grape composition comprises 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, with the dominant Cabernet Sauvignon contributing structural integrity and aging potential to the wines.
