Giscours boasts a storied past dating back to the fourteenth century when it served as a defensive tower overlooking the rugged landscape. Its true origins, however, took root in 1552 when Pierre de Lhomme, a prosperous Bordeaux draper, acquired a nobleman's residence named "Guyscoutz" and transformed it into a sprawling estate, marking the inception of vine cultivation. Over the centuries, each successive owner, including prominent merchant families like the promise, Pescatore, and Cruse, contributed to the estate's grandeur.

Situated within the Margaux appellation across the communes of Labarde and Arsac, Giscours benefits from an exceptional terroir ideally suited for crafting exceptional wines. The soil composition is exemplary, characterized by three imposing gravel hilltops deposited by the Garonne River during the Quaternary era. These gravels play a pivotal role, reflecting sunlight and moderating nighttime temperatures, fostering optimal grape ripening conditions. Moreover, the topography, with hilltop elevations of twenty meters for Petit and Grand Poujeau and seventeen meters for Cantelaude, sloping down to the château in an east-west direction, contributes to the terroir's uniqueness. Coupled with a temperate climate, this harmonious blend of elements imparts undeniable finesse to the terroir, defining Giscours' distinctive character.

Similar to the meticulous approach taken at Château Giscours, the La Sirene de Giscours, the vineyards' second wine, is meticulously crafted, beginning with planning and consideration in the vineyard during spring by their technical team. This thoughtful process extends into the cellar, where every effort is made to unveil its complete identity and elegance.

With a commitment to excellence, both in viticulture and winemaking, they adhere to stringent standards to ensure our wine embodies the fruity notes and delicacy synonymous with Giscours, reflecting their passion for quality and craftsmanship.

"Gorgeous pink rim to the wine. Softly floral on the nose, violets and roses. The palate has such a smooth and velvety texture that really stands out - it frames the overall feel giving structure and support to the spicy, muscular mid-palate. This has power but wrapped up delicately, delivering smoothness and elegance but also precision and definition. Lovely layers, the tannins take hold and you're reminded this is still a young wine, but then you get this lick of spice, the florality of the fruit and the density and length. One to buy and hold on to for a few more years. A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot. Drinking Window 2024 - 2032."

"This has so much pure fruit with clarity and brightness. Crushed stone, too. It’s medium-bodied with a racy tannin structure and excellent length. Second wine of Giscours. A blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon, 12% merlot, 9% petit verdot and 9% cabernet franc. Already impressively delicious, but best after 2024."

-James Suckling, 94 Points

"La Sirène de Giscours is an uninhibited and elegant wine , which has an aromatic palette marked by fruit , a beautiful freshness on the palate and silky tannins which blend into a creamy texture. With its fine Margalaise nuances , it can be drunk young but also aged very well. A little marvel of which we are very proud."
