Samuel Louis Smith is a micro-négociant based in Santa Cruz, sourcing fruit from some of the most distinctive vineyard sites along California’s Central Coast. He works with small growers who farm organically and focuses on mountain terroir and minimal intervention in the cellar. His lineup includes Chardonnay, Gamay Noir, Pinot Noir, and cool-climate Syrah from Santa Barbara, Monterey, and Santa Cruz. Fermented with native yeasts, made with little to no additions, and often including whole clusters in the reds, the wines show a neoclassical style with bright acidity, moderate alcohol, and a clear sense of place.
