The 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir blends three Pinot Noir clones from the Martinelli family’s Ceremonial Vineyard, renowned for its exceptional fruit. Established in the 1890s, the Martinelli family’s passion for winemaking is evident in the high-quality grapes they produce. This Pinot Noir features classic red cherry and cola notes from the 777 and 115 clones, while the Pommard 5 clone adds earthy elements, rose petals, depth, and refined tannins.
The 2018 vintage benefited from a long, cool growing season with moderate temperatures and fewer heat spikes, allowing the grapes to mature fully on the vine, resulting in a well-balanced and flavorful wine.
Tasting Note:
The initial nose is subtle, with hints of sassafras, cranberry, and cherry layered with forest floor notes. On the palate, it reveals baked pomegranate, cherry, wild strawberry, baking spices, and a mineral touch of crushed leaves. The body is well-balanced and lingering, finishing with finely integrated tannins and just the right amount of acidity. This wine has aged beautifully and is ready to be enjoyed now.
