Vinho Verde is a wine region in northern Portugal known for producing light, crisp, and refreshing wines that pair naturally with the area’s coastal cuisine. Despite the name, which translates to “green wine,” the style refers not to color but to youth and freshness. Most Vinho Verde wines are white, made from native grapes such as Loureiro, Alvarinho, and Avesso, though reds and rosés are also produced. The wines are typically low in alcohol, with bright acidity and subtle spritz, making them especially easy to drink.

"The color is a bright, pale gold. On the nose, really compelling yellow plum, apricot and ripe golden delicious apple. Different with every sniff. The palate is immediately fruity, with moderate acid and freshness throughout. It might sound cliché, but it's literally like biting into a ripe nectarine, with the juice running down your chin. Light-bodied and dry, this is a VV without the spritz, but with tons more going on than most. Highly recommended."
