Julie and Xavier Gonet-Médeville embody the essence of French winemaking royalty, each stemming from illustrious wine dynasties. Julie's lineage is steeped in the renowned Chateau Gilette tradition, while Xavier hails from a prestigious Champagne-producing family in Le Mesnil. Together, they stand at the forefront of a new generation of winemakers, leveraging their familial expertise, techniques, and boundless passion across an array of wines they craft collaboratively.

In 2009, Julie and Xavier acquired Monplaisir, a testament to their shared vision and commitment to excellence. Comprising two distinct parcels, one nestled in silt beneath Château d’Issan and the other rooted in gravel and clay beneath Château Margaux, Monplaisir epitomizes terroir diversity. Predominantly Merlot-based, with nuanced contributions from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this delightful cuvée undergoes primary aging in tank, with a mere 10% maturation in cask.

Positioned as a Bordeaux Superieur neighboring the esteemed Margaux appellation, Monplaisir offers remarkable value for its quality. Its proximity to such a prestigious terroir elevates its stature, making it a rare gem in the realm of Bordeaux wines—a testament to Julie and Xavier's unwavering dedication to crafting exceptional wines accessible to all.

This wine opens with Bordeaux aromas of dried plums, delicate violets, hints of graphite, and luscious black currant, gently backed by a subtle touch of oak. On the palate, the flavors continue with luscious cherry and ripe figs mingling harmoniously with nuances of cedar spice and earthy undertones. The Cabernet Sauvignon lends structure and backbone, imparting a firmness to the otherwise silky tannins. The finish is moderately long, leaving a refreshing sensation that lingers on the palate, inviting another sip.

Blend: 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc
