The Veneto region in northeastern Italy is one of the country's most diverse and respected wine areas, producing everything from crisp Prosecco to bold reds. One of its most famous wines is Amarone della Valpolicella, a rich, complex red made by drying grapes for several months before fermentation to concentrate flavor. Made mainly from Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, Amarone is known for its deep ruby color, dark fruit, dried fig, spice, and chocolate notes, with a velvety texture and firm tannins. The region’s cool breezes from Lake Garda and the Alps help give Amarone its balance and aging potential.
