Near Venice in northeastern Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia borders Austria and Slovenia and is shaped by the Dolomites to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the south and east. This mix of mountain and sea creates a unique microclimate with sharp temperature shifts that enhance the wines' freshness, lift, and salinity.
Before fermentation, the grapes are destemmed and left to macerate for 12 to 24 hours, depending on the vintage. This gentle contact with the naturally pink-gray Pinot Grigio skins imparts both aroma and the wine’s distinctive pale amber hue.
Tasting Note:
The wine shows a faint blush hue and a depth rarely seen in Pinot Grigio, thanks in part to aging on the lees, which adds a creamy texture and layered complexity. It offers a vibrant palate of orchard fruits, citrus, and subtle minerality, with notes of white flowers, pear, green apple, and orange. It's a fresh yet textured wine that’s both expressive and versatile.
